Annette W. Orme, 91, retired school teacher and civic leader, died Nov. 2, 1997, in San Antonio Texas.
She was born June 29, 1906 , in Farmington, Utah, to Lorenzo and Ann Elizabeth Steed Walker. She grew up in the Salt Lake City area. After completing a degree at Albion College, she taught school in the Sugar City-St. Authority, Idaho, area where she met Martell Orme, a co-owner of Orme Auto Co. They were married in 1929.
In 1936, they moved to Idaho Falls where her husband and Reed S. Orme founded Orme Implement Co., and she taught school.
She was active in the Idaho Falls Music Club, the Community Concert Association, Republican Women, and the League of Women Voters. She served as president of the Women's Club in 1974-75 and received a distinguished service award from the General Federation of Women's Clubs of America. She helped to establish the Abused Women's Shelter and the Science Experience Center in Idaho Falls.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Martell, in 1985. Survivors include a daughter, Marlene Ruth Merritt, and a son, Keith M. Orme and his wife, Pat, all of San Antonio, Texas; a sister, Ruth S. Walker of Salt Lake City, Utah; six grandchildren; and many great-grand-children.
