Richard H. Briggs, 73, of 19 Prather Ave., Jamestown, New York, died at 6:00 a.m. (4/29/1994) in WCA Hospital.

He was born 1/10/1921 in Forestville, New York, a son of the late Howard and Myrtle Mosher Briggs.

During World War II he was a T/Sgt in the United States Army Air Corps, serving in the European Theatre of War.

From 1945 through 1984 Briggs was a machinist at the Crescent Tool Co. Following his retirement he was a personal care aide for Caregivers Health Services.

A member of the church of the Nazarene, he served on the church board and was a past chairman, a choir member, church usher, a Sunday School teacher and superintendent and a district delegate to church conferences.

Briggs was a member of the Crescent Tool Union Local and a former treasurer of the credit union. Other memberships include Ira Lou Spring Post American Legion and John W. Tiffany Post, VFW.

Surviving are his wife, the former Faye Ellis, whom he married 9/29/1945, a son J. Howard Briggs, three grandchildren, Ryan, Justin and Kayla Briggs of Glendora Ca., two brothers Donald and Tom Briggs both of Jamestown.

He is preceded in death by two sisters, Nellie Jean Andersen and Doris May Briggs.

A memorial service will be held at 1pm Tuesday in the Church of the Nazarene.

The Rev. Charles Brooks, Pastor will officate.

Burial will be in the Sunset Hills Cemetery.
