Jesse was the youngest child of Johannes "John" & Rachel Mary (Pugh) DeLong, Sr. He was born in Northampton (now Monroe) Co., PA.

Following info from 50+ year DeLong researcher the late John D. Baldwin III.:

JESSE (1-7-3-1-6) was b. PA, Oct 10, 1791 per records passed down by granddaughter Irene Soule. These papers erroneously call him Pierre. (Could he possibly have been Jesse Peter? He had a son Jesse P.). Other records tend to make him a bit older, born by 1790 per 1830 census, born 1787-8 per pension application, 1789-90 per 1850 census.

1790 - younger of two males under 14 in father's home.

1793 - as a child, 400 acres were recorded for him, Northampton Co., Pa. See text for his father.

1800 - younger of two males 16-25 though he was probably in the 10-15 bracket.

1807 - with Winans-Delong party to Trumbull Co., OH.

180_ - md. 1st Mary "Polly" Winans (Winans Family papers; Rochester, NY) dau. of James and Hannah (Bunnelle). She b. 1792-5 (source?).

1810 - Trumbull census is not extant.

1812 - Served in War of 1812. The men drilled on the corner field South of Orr's Corners at Milton, marched to Cleveland but saw no action, as the War ended. He lived West of Orr's Corners, North of Milton Center and was called "Old Major" for his service.

1820 - Indexed in Milton census.

1820 and 1822 - tax Duplicate for Milton Twp. Trumbull Co., OH, Lot 23, 103 acres.

1830 - Milton he 40-49, she 30-39; 1001001/230301.

1833 - she d. Oct. 13, bur. Eckis Cem., Milton. The Henry Baldwin typescript of area families erroneously says she was wife of John (1-7-3-1), her father-in-law.

1835 - In June he gave Oath in Trumbull Co. Court concerning the right of Mary DeLong (his mother) to receive pension money due John Sr. (his father at time of his death.

1839 - he md. 2nd Apr 12 (VR) 1839 (land bounty application shows Apr. 15) Rachel (Frankfurther) Winans. She was b. Pa. 1807-8 per 1850 census but born Germany 1802-3 per Jesse's pension file. She was widow of James Winans, son of Jesse's sister Catherine (1-7-3-1-4). (Trumbull Co., OH marriage records: Delong, Jesse Rachel Winans Apr 12, 1839.)[Laurel DeLong has name Rachel Frankfurter /rwd].

1840 -

1850 - census of ____ Twp., Trumbull Co., OH, age 60 and 42.

1851 - He applied for Bounty Land, Appl. W.C. 24394; reapplied 1854.

1856 - he d. Jackson Twp., Trumbull Co., OH, Dec. 17.

1860/1870 -

1880 - Rachel d. Townville, Crawford Co., PA, May 21.
