Jinny was born Jan. 19, 1919 at Halifax County, Va. to John Lovelace Cole and Elizabeth (Lovelace) Cole. She was the youngest of seven children and was raised in Virginia and was a true "Southern Belle."
She married Earl (Eddie) Gebhart on Feb. 22, 1947, which brought her out west to Wyoming. Her mamma always thought there was no indoor plumbing and hesitated for her baby to come west, but once living here, her family all showed up and loved it as much as Jinny did.
Jinny and Eddie moved to Greybull in 1959 where she resided until her death. She provided many a meal at the Greybull Bowling Alley lunch counter before going to work in the principal's office at Greybull High School where she continued to work for 25 years and loved all of the high school kids. She was an avid Greybull Buffs fan and spent many, many hours sitting on the bleachers for sporting events and wouldn't have had it any other way. It was truly the love of her live.
Jinny is survived by two daughters, Jinny Lynn Downing of Centennial, Colo. and Janet (Jeff) Johnson of Greybull; one son, Jerry (Linda) Gebhart of Wheatland; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; her sister, Mable Barnes of Virginia; and several nephews and nieces.
