NAPLES, Fla. - Dudley Pierce Turner, 70, died of complications from pulmonary fibrosis in the early morning of March 14, 2013, in Naples, Fla. Dudley was born on Dec. 3, 1942, in South Boston, Va., during a World War II blackout drill.

He was an excellent athlete, earning Most Valuable Player honors for his high school in Great Falls, S.C.

He enjoyed many summers with grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins in Pelham, N.C. He graduated from Duke University in 1965 with a BA in mathematics, and was a member of the Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity. After college Dudley began his longtime career in the textile industry, beginning with Collins and Aikman in Farmville, N.C., and then Dalton Carpet in Georgia. Eventually he was appointed Vice-President of Operations for Nalpac, a textile company with plants in Montreal, North Carolina and Mexico. This appointment led him to move north, where he divided his time between Montreal and Vermont. He remained with Nalpac until his retirement.

Dudley enjoyed his life's passions until his final days. He loved family, friends, life and golf.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvie Poulin, and daughter, April, both of Longueille, Quebec, Canada; his sons, David of New York City and Brian of Boston; his mother, Nancy Turner of Pelham of North Carolina; and his brothers, Jim of Oakton, Va., and Michael of Dedham, Mass.

A celebration of Dudley's life will be held at a later time.
