Found in The State 26 February 1956: James Reuben Gossett, 41, of 1404 Duke Ave., died in Columbia Hospital early yesterday. A son of the late Walter Eugene and Hattie Humphries Gossett, he was a lifetime resident of Columbia. For the past 11 years he was associated with the Veterans Administration. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of Main Street Methodist Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 o'clock this afternoon from the Dunbar Funeral home. The Rev. A. B. Ferguson, assisted by the Rev. C. M. Kelly of Jacksonville, Fla., will officiate, and burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
