STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, Wednesday, July 31, 1895, page 5, col. 5
Ellen Coleman Doudt, 09 Oct 1833-26 Jul 1895
DIED at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Perry Wait(e), in
Jackson township, Steuben county, Ind., Jul 26, 1895, Ellen
Coleman Doudt, aged 61 years, 9 months and 17 days.
She leaves to mourn their loss six children-two sons and four daughters-eight grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. While they mourn her departure they are not without hope, believing that weeping only endures for a night and that joy cometh in the morning. She was greatly attached to her children and they to her. Her illness was of long duration, but she bore it all without a murmur. She was a member of the United Brethren church for many years. The funeral services were held at the Pleasant View church Sunday morning at 11 o'clock, conducted by Rev. J. C. Albright.
A large concourse of people attended her funeral, thus evincing the esteem in which she was held by her neighbors and friends.
