Mildred Ethelyn Danielson, 86, Alexandria, died March 25, 2005. Mildred was born April 7, 1918 in Holmes City to Jack and Ethel (Guiles) Johnson. She grew up near Holmes City and attended the Pocket Lake Country School. Following her schooling she helped her parents with the family farm. She was confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran Church at Holmes City in July 1932. On June 9, 1944 Mildred married Frank Danielson. The couple made their home in Alexandria. For many years she ran the lunchroom at the D&D Sales Pavilion. She also sold Avon and worked for Knute Nelson Memorial Home under the Green Thumb program. In 1972 Mildred and Frank moved to Bradenton, Florida. Frank died shortly thereafter and Mildred returned to Alexandria in 1976. Mildred was a member of First Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday school. She loved gardening, reading and handicrafts. Mildred enjoyed playing cards and was a good cook and baker; her grandchildren remember her as the "Cookie Grandma." Her family also remembers her as being supportive and encouraging of their efforts in whatever endeavor they were active. Mildred is survived by her daughter, Gloria (Lee) Poetz of Alexandria; son, Ronald (Gayle) Danielson of California; stepson, Morris Danielson of Dixon, California; grandchildren, Rhonda Watson-Grimes, Steve Watson and Tony Watson; great-grandchildren, Nick Watson, Dylan Grimes and Alec Grimes; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; sisters, Pearl Bratton and Florine "Bob" Lind; brother, Melvin Johnson; stepdaughter, Clarice Miller and stepsons, Stanley, Franklin and Donald Danielson. A funeral service was held March 31 at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria with the Rev. Allen Travaille as officiant. Vicky Hessel and Annette Sadlemyer provided music. Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery in Alexandria. Pallbearers included Steve Watson, Tony Watson, Rhonda Watson-Grimes, Nick Watson, Roy Wicken and Lee Poetz. Honorary pallbearers were Clifford Peterson, Bill Weisel, Andy Karlsgodt, Sid Carlson and Jerry Tilleskjor. Arrangements were with Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
