Son of Richard & Ruth Porter. He built a saw mill in Little Comfort in Bridgewater, now So.Abington. He was one of the most enterprising men of his time. Having many land grants in Weymouth and also purchased a great number of lands in ancient Bridgewater in 1686, 87, 93,96, and 99. Sergeant Porter's title is from the Ancient and Honerable Artillery Company.
