Elizabeth Jane Harrington, 96, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2013, in Oklahoma City, Okla. Funeral: 1 p.m. Wednesday at Southcliff Baptist Church. Entombment: Greenwood Mausoleum. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Southcliff Baptist Church building fund. Elizabeth Jane was born April 8, 1917, in Augusta, Ark., the daughter of Charles E. and Emma O. Miller, one of nine siblings. She went to school in Augusta, Ark., graduating in May 1935. After graduation, she worked at a department store for a few years, then moved to Portales, N.M., in 1940. Elizabeth lived with her oldest sister, Thelma, and her family. In 1942, she was employed by the Department of Defense to work at a prisoner of war camp in Roswell, N.M. After the war, she was transferred to Roswell Air Force Base. There she met and married Lance Sgt. Luther G. Harrington on April 11, 1948. They lived in Roswell, Japan, Maine, California, Ohio and Massachusetts, and retired to Fort Worth in 1969. Elizabeth was active in Baptist churches or base chapels everywhere they lived and had been a member of Southcliff since 1970. She was preceded in death by her husband in October 1997; all her siblings; and a son, Jeff Harrington, on Sept. 14, 2008. Survivors: Son, Greg Harrington and wife, Nancy, of Norman, Okla.; daughter-in-law, Sue Harrington of Wichita Falls, widow of son Jeff; granddaughters, Jamie Harrington and husband, Serge, of New York, N.Y., Allison Harrington of Dallas, Angela Harrington of Norman, Okla., Kathleen Harrington and husband, Luke, of Lewisville and Kristen Harrington of Edmond, Okla.; several cousins, nieces and nephews; and good friends, Wanda Burns and Laura Martin, both of Fort Worth.
