Enlisted May 7, 1862 in Colquitt's Brigade, Company G, 32nd Georgia Infantry Regiment, Georgia Volunteer Army of Tennesse, Private. Wounded Olustee, Fla. February 1864 at age 32. Discharged at Charleston, SC August 22,1864 as a paraplegic due to spinal disease. It is interesting that after his release from the CSA Army due to paralysis he was able to father many children.

Uncle Nath Adams Passes. Approached Near to Century Mark, Was Veteran of the Sixties, and Well Known in Montgomery County
Mr. Nathan Adams, familiarly and affectionately known as Uncle Nath, died at his home about six miles north of Ailey on Monday morning, November 29, after being confined to his bed for about two weeks. He was probably the oldest citizen of Montgomery County, having lived to come within about three years of the century mark.
Uncle Nath was born and reared in the neighborhood where he died. With the exception of the years of service in the Confederate Army, during which time he was in different states, he spent his entire life in the community. He had long been a familiar figure, and was a well beloved and honored citizen. He had won the respect and friendship of a large number of people in this section. He was an interesting character, and many acquaintances found it pleasant, as opportunity afforded the privilege, to be in his company.
He is survived by two sons and five daughters, besides quite a number of grandchildren and a very large family connection. The sons and daughters are Mr. George Adams and Mr. Nathaniel Adams, Jr., Mrs. Idella Cooper, Mrs. Drusilla Cooper, Mrs. Minnie Nabb, Mrs. Alice Smith and Mrs. Annie O'Conner.
