Henry died as the oldest of a brothers in this country, the youngest of whom is August aged 79.
On September 16, 1883, he was married to Margaretha Lohse, whom preceded him in death on January 15, 1892. To this union was born 3 children, Henry H. Jr. and Anna, who survive their father; one son Johnny having preceded him in death at the age of 18 days.
On February 1, 1892, he was married to Catharine Woebke and to this union was born one child, Winnie, who passed away at the age of 4 years. Mrs. Pein preceded him in death May 13, 1941.
The deceased was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and remained true to his Savior, reading his Bible daily and living the teachings of that Bible above all else. He was a man of the highest character.
Survivors are his children, H. H. Pain Jr., Mrs. Anna Hansen, 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, four brothers, and one sister, as well as many nieces and nephews who sincerely mourn the passing of this Christian man.
Funeral services were held on November 12, 1944 in the James Funeral Home, Rev. O. C. Beirmann officiating. Interment was made in the family lot in the Glenwood Cemetery. Music was by Mrs. Joe Kahl and Miss Catherine Schooling singing with Mrs. Eva Speck at the piano. Casket bearers were Hans Peters, theodore Serol, Ruben Stille, William Lungson, ed Pein, and Eroth Timmerman.
