Ruth Loretta was my Aunt. I always fondly called her Aunt Ruthie. She was the first born to William and Goldie Kagy. She was someone you would never forget. She had a way about her that spoke louder than words. She was loved very much but was so misunderstood for she was known to say what she thought wither you wanted to hear it or not.
She had 18 children, and three husbands. She delivered three sets of twins to be exact. As a mother she struggled. She was very head strong and impossible to deal with at times and was known to neglect her children. She struggled with motherhood because of her financial burdens just exasperated her large family. As a result of all this heartache all her children were taken away and placed in the foster system. The two oldest twins( Judy & Trudy) were place with family members and thus raised by their Aunts Dorothy and Pauline. The remaining children were adopted out and assumed new Sir names. Attempts to reunite the siblings were attempted but it proved to be to difficult to attain. Some were found but not all. It was a sad situation all around.

When Ruth was in her mid 40's she was in a very bad auto accident and her skull was crushed and Doctors placed a metal plate in her frontal lobe of her skull and because of her injuries family said she was never the same again which made her even more difficult to deal with. She would at time lash out for no apparent reason. She struggled with her emotions and disappointments up to the day she died.

I fondly remember her loving to paint with Tri.Chem Liquid Embroidery on Pillow cases and Tea towels. It was her signature in a way.
I so remember that she had the best meatloaf recipe one in which she refused to share.
Aunt Ruth lived her life the best she could with what she had. The guilt of loosing so many children haunted her so much so that all she wanted was to be left alone and with that she died alone in her apartment. Her death was not discovered until two weeks.
She died a pauper and was to be buried in a paupers grave. Her siblings assembled funds to bury her properly. She was cremated and her ashes were buried with a family member. I loved my Aunt Ruthie and I cherish all the talks we had discussing what it meant to learn from someone else s mistakes. I will never forget you and always love you Aunt Ruthie!
