SPRINGFIELD - Donald D. “Don” Broden, 81, of Springfield died Sunday, April 24, 2005, at his home.

He was born Feb. 15, 1924, in Chicago, the son of Dewey and Alice Hoekstra Broden. He married Jean Wellons in 1945.

Mrs. Broden was an engineer with Illinois Bell Telephone Co. He was a U.S. Army Air Forces veteran of World War II. He was a member of Cherry Hills Baptist Church, Civil Air Patrol - Springfield Composite Squadron, Telephone Pioneers of American and American Legion Post 32.

Survivors: wife, Jean; three daughters, Barbara (husband, Thomas) Phillips of West Des Moines, Iowa, Donna (husband, Michael) Layne of St. Paul, Ind., and Alice (husband, John) Jeisy of Strasburg; son, Maj. Ronald (wife, Kik) Broden of Tucson, Ariz.; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Kenneth Broden of Silverthorne, Colo.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services: 1 p.m. Thursday, Cherry Hills Baptist Church, Jeff Nelsen officiating. Burial: Camp Butler National Cemetery.
