Susan Lola (Noble) Brown (Chauncey's wife) claimed Ann's maiden name was Stowe, and that Ann was related by marriage to Harriet Beecher Stowe. However, an abstract from "The Madison Observer", shows a James M. Brown marrying an Ann Chubbuck in Eaton Town on August 29, 1843. The 1850 U.S. Census listing for James and Ann seems to lend credence to Ann's maiden name being Chubbuck. I'll continue to work on trying to determine Ann's maiden name.
Update 15 Jun 2020: Ancestry DNA shows I'm related to the Chubbuck Family, and so I'm removing Stowe from Ann's maiden name. Ann was James M. Brown's first of three wives, and one of my second great grandmothers on my maternal side.
