Sofia Dzerzhinskaya was a Polish Jewish Social Democrat who later became a Communist politician. She is remembered in part because she was the wife of Felix Dzerzhinsky, whom she married on November 10, 1910. Their marriage took place in Krakow at the St. Nicholas Church. She was later imprisoned in Pawiak for her political beliefs, giving birth there on June 23, 1911 to their only child, Janek.

Dzerzhinskaya served as a member of the Soviet diplomatic mission in Bern, Switzerland, from September 1918 to February 1919. She later moved to Moscow, working first as a teacher and then in the Polish Bureau of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.
