Dies At Age 69
Former President of Borough Council
Ill Several Years
(Died November 1946 or 47 or 48, Berwick, Columbia County,
Pennsylvania)
After having been in ill health for several years, Harry O. Christian,
69, former president of Berwick Council, died yesterday morning at
12:15 o'clock. He had been confined to bed for a week at his Chestnut
street home.
Mr. Christian, a native of Berwick, had spent his entire life here. He
had served two terms as a member of Borough Council and was president
during his second term. The local man was a member of the First
Presbyterian Church. He was formerly employed by the Wise Company and
had operated a self service-station for many years but had been
retired for some time due to ill health.
Surivors include his wife, two daughters, Mrs. James Stout, Baltimore,
Md. and Mrs. Lloyd Farver, Flint, Mich.; two sisters, Mrs. Laura
Yohey, Berwick, and Miss Kathryn Rittenhouse, Bloomsburg; seven
grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and eight stepchildren.
Services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the
Kelchner Funeral Home with the Rev. G. P. Cooley officiating. Friends
may call Tuesday evening between 7 and 9 o'clock. Interment will be
made in Pine Grove Cemetery, Market Street.
