Herald Coaster, February 25, 1991:

Funeral services for Gilbert "Skipper" Koeppen, 78, of Guy, were held at 1 p.m. Monday at the St. John's United Church of Christ in Rosenberg. Rev. Don Kolkmeier officiated the service and burial followed in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Mr. Koeppen died Saturday, Feb. 23, at Polly Ryon Skilled Nursing Center. He was born Aug. 15, 1912 in Welcome. His parents were Otto and Ida Moench Koeppen. He was also a member of St. John's United Church of Christ.

Survivors include his son, Gilbert Willie Koeppen Jr. of Needville; daughters, Mary Dannhaus of Needville and Myrna Luksa of League City; brother, Ruben Koeppen of Rosenberg; sisters, Hattie Thielemann of Freeport, Clara Stavinoha of Rosenberg, Velma Dickerson of Pasadena, and Leona Cox of Splendora; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ or the American Cancer Society Research.

Services are under the direction of Garmany & Carden Funeral Directors, Inc. in Rosenberg.
