He was born Dec. 13, 1929, at Nora to Ernest and Lillie Wagensen Anderson. He graduated from high school at Ruskin in 1947 and enlisted in the United States Army.
Anderson served three tours in Korea where he was a combat medic. He served in China, Japan, Okinawa, Germany and was a combat veteran of Viet Nam. He earned his bachelor of science degree in public health and was an entomology specialist. Anderson was a registered sanitarian with the National Environmental Health Association.
May 2, 1952, he married Marie McAfoos at Topeka. In 1969, he retired from the Army and the family moved to Wyoming where he was employed by the State of Wyoming Department of Health. From 1975 to 1988, he was the Goshen County and Platte County sanitarian.
Anderson was a member of Travis Snow Post, No. 5, of the American Legion, Torrington Masonic Lodge, No. 29, A.F. and A.M., Wyoming Consistory No. 1 at Cheyenne, Korein Temple of the Shrine at Rawlins, the Torrington Shrine Club and the Order of Eastern Star. His hobbies were military history and collecting World War II memorabilia.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Marcia Rocks, Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sons, Harold Anderson Jr., of Cheyenne and Jon M. Anderson of Torrington; a sister, Euvalene Swanstrom, Oak; and four grandchildren.
The Rev. Carl Christensen officiated. Masonic services were conducted by Torrington Lodge, No. 29, A.F. and F.M. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery with military services conducted by Travis Snow Post, No. 5, of the American Legion and the Wyoming National Guard.
