Idonna was born to Russell Dewitt Austin and Ruby Isabel Utley. She was five months old when her father was shot and killed. Her mother later remarried Starling Wayne Lindsey, who raised Idonna as his own daughter. Idonna had two half brothers: Starling Lee and Kent Wilbur. Idonna married Burt Fry and they had four children: Dana, Craig, Kevin and Karen. Idonna died in Coquille, Oregon and is buried there.
