Albert L. Whitesel, 79, New Holland, Lancaster County, formerly of Williamsburg, died Thursday morning at Hospice and Community Care, Lancaster.

He was born in Williamsburg, son of the late Samuel Warren and Margaret D. (Rath) Whitsel. He married Mary A. Royer on Dec. 6, 1957, in Hagerstown, Md.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years; a daughter, Reba Harper and husband, John Jr., of East Earl; three sons: Samuel and wife, Tammy, of Pocopson and Warren and wife, Beverly, and Jerry and wife, Connie, all of Nottingham; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Fern Alexander and husband, David, of Jacksonville, N.C.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Rebecca Bobey; and his stepfather, George H. Snyder.

Albert was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving from 1956-60 in South Korea. He retired in 1994 as a maintenance engineer at Scott Paper Co., Philadelphia, with more than 40 years of service.

Friends will be received from 2 until the 3 p.m. funeral service Monday, April 15, 2013, at Salem United Church of Christ, rural Martinsburg, Pastor John G. Russell officiating. Interment with full military honors accorded by the Blair County Veterans Honor Guard will follow at Salem Church Cemetery, rural Martinsburg.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be given to Salem United Church of Christ Memorial Fund.

Local arrangements are by John C. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg.
