Funeral services for Mrs. Lydia Horton Boyce Blackwell, 81, who died Wednesday after nine months illness, were held in the Sibley Methodist church at 2:30 p.m. Thursday with Rev. D.O. Christian, pastor of the Sibley Baptist church officiating. Rev. J.E. Carter of Minden assisted. Interment was in the Sibley cemetery.

Pallbearers were W.A. Martin, A.E. Gifford, Horas Guice, Paul Boid, E.O. Cooper and Leon Hamner.

Mrs. Blackwell was born in Sumter County, South Carolina, on November 5, 1861, and would have been 82 on her next birthday. At an early age she joined the Baptist church. She came to Louisiana about 50 years ago and has lived near Minden since that time. She is survived by her husband, Mr. S.H. Blackwell, four sons, C.W. Boyce of Monroe; J.E. Boyce of Minden; L.W. Boyce of Sibley; and John W. Boyce of Minden; four step-children, Mrs. J.E. Boyce of Minden; Ervin Blackwell of Coushatta, Johnnie Blackwell of Rock Hill, South Carolina, and Mrs. Arthur Brannon, Bethune, South Carolina; 19 grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
