Mrs. Jewel Griffies Cashin, age 89, of Villa Rica passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at Carrollton Manor. She was born November 6, 1923, in Villa Rica, Georgia, the daughter of the late Mr. Oliver Wendell Griffies and the late Mrs. Evie Lenora Carnes Griffies.
She was retired from the City of Villa Rica where she worked as the Site Manager at the Senior Citizen Services for 13 years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Villa Rica.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. A.B. Cashin; sisters, Reba Golden and Amy Griffies; and brothers, T.H. "Boots" Griffies, Hugh Griffies and Ben Griffies.
She is survived by her daughter, Kay Cashin of Villa Rica; son and daughter-in-law, Robin and Jane Cashin of Villa Rica; grandchildren, Krista and Chris Robinson and Jodi McCarley; great-grandchildren, Dani Shadix, Alle Shadix, Sophie Robinson, Bella Robinson and KatieBeth Robinson; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica, Friday, April 5, 2013, from 5 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 6, 2013, at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Rev. Chad Sadorf officiating. Musical selections will be provided by Mr. Kelly McCord. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Johnny Ray, Skip Griffies, Mark Ingram, Bill Stephens, David Ray, Howard Ray and Darryl Ray. Jimmy Causey will serve as an honorary escort. Interment will follow in Meadowbrook Memory Gardens on Hickory Level Road, in Villa Rica.
