Shot and killed by her son-in-law, James Hayden "Hade" Brown (husband of daughter, Susan) who was tried and hung for her murder. Despite all the newspaper and other written accounts of the shootings, trial, Susan's suicide, etc., no record of Martha Emily's burial has been found. If anyone has this information, please contact me.

Martha Emily first married Ambrose Waller Burton on September 22, 1836 in Randolph Co. MO. They had six known children:
William Fort Burton (1837-1909)
Martha Agnes Burton (1839-1926
Frances Burton (1842-?)
May Burton (1844-?)
John Burton (1847 ?)
Burilla Burton (1850-?)

Martha Emily married 2nd Dr Jeptha Calloway Parrish on November 2, 1853 in Randolph Co. MO. They had five known children, including two sets of twin daughters:
Amanda Parrish (1854-1859(accidentally shot))
Mary H Parrish (1854-1878)
Sarah Jane Parrish (1857-1931)
Susan A R Parrish (1857-1880)
Louisa "Loutie" Parrish (1859-1903)
