In the passing of George R. Gill, Upperco has lost one of its oldest and most respected citizens. Mr. Gill has been in declining health for some months. He died Friday at the age of 79 years. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hooker Gill, and was born on the old homestead now owned by Frank Mays. He had resided at his late home for the past forty-six years, always residing in the neighborhood of Upperco. Beside his widow, who was Miss Mary Ellen Sparks, of White House, he is survived by a son Ira Gill of Akron, Ohio, and daughter Mrs. Ionia Beniccli of Baltimore; a sister: Eliza A. Fowble, and a brother: Leroy Gill, both of Upperco.
