Funeral service for John G. Baxter, 77, Lawton, will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 22, 2013 in Central Baptist Church with Dr. Keith Miles, Pastor officiating.
Mr. Baxter died Monday, April 15, 2013 in Lawton.
Burial will be in the Elgin Cemetery under the direction of the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home.
Mr. Baxter was born October 22, 1935 in Elgin to John Hamilton and Nettie Maie (Devasher) Baxter. He grew up in Elgin where he graduated high school and later attended college. He had worked in the pharmaceutical industry and retired in 2002 as a pharmaceutical buyer with McKesson Pharmaceutical. He had lived in Oklahoma City and Dallas and returned to Lawton upon retirement so he could live near the Wichita Mountains. He attended Central Baptist Church.
He is survived by his sister, Mary Beck, Portland, Texas; several special nieces and nephews who locally include, Suzanne E. Baxter, Oklahoma City, Sandy and Marvin Zyke, Lawton, and Morty and Ruth Baxter, Lawton.
His parents, two brothers, Bill and Maurice A. "Bob" Baxter, and a sister, Hazel Dodson, preceded him in death.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 3555 NW 58th Street, Suite 220, Oklahoma City OK 73112.
