Howard was a veteran of the USAR-TC with an honorable discharge having served from Thursday, 21 November 1951 to Thursday, 20 August 1953 then transferred to Army Reserves.
He received the Combat Infantryman Badge, 1st Award, Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Most Significant Duty Assignment: Co "A" 1st Transportation, BN.
Mr. Martin is survived by his daughters, Alice Ruth Martin, Joyce Ann (Martin) Duncan, Patricia Jane (Martin) Long, sister, Peggy (Martin) Brown.
