Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 19, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in St. Cloud, for Frank Joseph Meidl, 76, of Parkers Prairie, MN, who passed away peacefully in River Falls, WI on April 14, 2013. The Reverend Matthew Crane will officiate. Entombment will be at Assumption Cemetery.
Frank was born in Sleepy Eye on July 8, 1936 to Frank A. Meidl Sr. and Cresence Meidl. He grew up in the New Ulm-Sleepy Eye, Pierz and St Cloud areas where he graduated from St. Cloud Technical High School in 1956. Frank was married to Mary Jane Wirtzfield in November of 1957.
Throughout his life Frank enjoyed many interests. Of which was his ownership of the House of Cheese in downtown St. Cloud. In 1971, he expanded it and moved the business to the Westgate Shopping Center. After the House of Cheese business, he moved on to own a bar and restaurant in Urbank, Minnesota in 1978. He owned the bar and restaurant for 8 years then retired.
Frank lived a peaceful and prosperous life at Lake Vermont for 27 years. During recent years he enjoyed fishing from his home on Lake Vermont, hunting, tinkering on various projects at his home and enjoying all of his friends and family who passed through. Frank was surrounded by many friends and loved ones and was a true people person. Anyone that he met took an instant liking to him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Cleora Schmidt, Viola Wood and Barbara Stuntebeck.
Frank is survived by his son Thomas (Dolores); grandchildren Jeffrey Meidl, Brandy (Steven) Potter; sister Carla (Erv) Symanietz; and brother Duane (Ramona) Meidl.
