A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of the late Alma Moss Brown and the son of Lanoel Bascom Brown and Annie Nelson Brown, both deceased. He was an Air Force veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He retired as Vice-President of Wachovia Bank after more than 40 years service. He was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, former Sunday School Teacher and Sunday School Superintendent, member of the United Methodist Men, and worked many years with the Puppet Ministry. He was an officer of The 39 and Holding Club and former member of the Burlington Jaycees.
Survivors include one daughter, the Rev. Lisa Brown Cole, Chaplain of Durham Regional Hospital, Durham; one son, Mr. L. Nelson Brown Jr. and wife, Susie, of Wake Forest; and three grandchildren, Sarah Brown, Mary Beth Cole, and Daniel Cole.
The funeral will be conducted at Emmanuel United Methodist Church on Saturday, May 27, 2006 at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Neal Salter. Burial will follow in Hebron United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Emmanuel United Methodist Church on Friday, May 26, 2006, from 6 to 8 p.m. The body will remain at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home in Graham until time to be taken to the church at 4 p.m. for the visitation.
