Lawrence W. Sayne, 85, Richmond, formerly of Liberty, died Saturday evening, June 17th, 2006 at Reid Hospital in Richmond. He lived in Union County since 1948 and farmed all of his working life. He was married to Virginia Beck Sayne who died in 1994. He was born to Leonard and Stella Jenkins Sayne on Dec. 16, 1920 at Loudon County, TN. He was a member of Hanna`s Creek Christian Church in Union County and the VFW 1472 in Liberty. He had worked in the fields of masonry and carpentry. Mr. Sayne was one of the original directors of the National Farmers Organization and traveled the Midwest in that capacity. He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII as a Metallurgist, repairing damaged aircraft. Survivors include his wife, Geneva Sayne of Richmond, one son and daughter in law, Garry and Linda Sayne of Liberty, two brothers and sisters in law, Harold and Harriett Sayne of Richmond, Glen and Linda Sayne of Kennesaw, GA and a sister, Wilma Braden of Richmond, 4 grandchildren, Trisha Sayne and Larry Sayne, both of Indianapolis, Heath Sayne of Kennesaw, GA and Rebecka Sayne-Meyer of Manhattan, KS. and 2 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel, Liberty, at 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 21, 2006 with Rev. Wayne Bozell officiating.. Interment will follow in the Elkhorn Cemetery, Wayne County. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday where memorial contributions may be made to Reid Hospital Heart Enhancement Fund
