Jefferson Co TN Court Minutes Book Bp. 116 Tuesday 17 March 1826. A Deed of Conveyance from Daniel R. Murphy to William and Nancy Murphy for 100 acres of land was acknowledged in open court and recorded.

It's first meetings were in an old building belonging to Samuel Davis. The names of the
constituent members were Samuel Davis, Jas. Gilmore, Wm. Daly, Wm. Northern, Elijah Foly, Jas. Box, Lydia Davis, Elizabeth Murphy, Nancy Daly, Mary Gilmore, Anna Gilmore and Elizabeth Gouty.
Elder D.R. Murphy died at Humansville, MO 28 August 1875, in the full triumph of faith. Elder Murphy was born 24 Nov 1802; commenced preaching in 1836 in TN; in 1839 he came to S.W. Mo and continued to preach Christ from that time to the day of his death; he was remarkable
for his persuasive power of winning sinners to Christ.

From the STOCKTON TRIBUNE 4 September issue of 1868: "Rev. D.R. Murphy has a sore foot so diseased as to render locomotion impossible. He is unable to meet with friends, but would relish letters; address Fair Grove"
A pioneer Baptist preacher who established many of the Baptist Churches
of Southwest MO. The Murphy's were originally of Scotch-Irish ancestry
and were from North Ireland and were protestants.
Baptized September 3rd, 1832 in Holstein River, at Ore's Ferry Landing.
Organized and aided in the organization of between 25 and 30 churches.
His first marriage with Lucy Carter. During the last years of her life,
Daniel carried her in his arms to and from the carriage, while traveling
over a large area preaching..
