"Guy F. Murphree, 67, of 1774 Mohawk dr., died Saturday at Akron City Hospital. Mr. Murphree was born in Cullman, Ala. He worked for Goodyear International 37 years, retiring in 1968. He was a member of the Southeast Church of Christ. Mr. Murphree in 1964 offered himself as a compromise candidate for Akron City Council when a vacancy was created by the resignation of Larry Z. Kish. Mr. Murphree was not elected. He leaves his wife, Lonie; daughter, Mrs. Janet Hiney; sisters, Mrs. Martha Smith California, and Mrs. Eva Miller, Alabama and two grandchildren. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Adams Funeral Home, with burial at Greensburg cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society."
