Lloyd died April 12, at Jasper Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
A native of Post, Texas and a former resident of San Benito, Texas in the Rio Grande Valley he had lived the past 19 years in Jasper. Lloyd D. Beasley wanted to make a difference with his life. When he was 8 years old, his father died and he grew up without a father. Maybe that is why he decided to leave Shell Oil Company to become the father figure to hundreds of children at Sunny Glenn Children's Home, Cherokee Children's Home and Central Texas Children's Home. Lloyd and his beloved wife Lela never considered working at children's homes a sacrifice. Making a difference in the life of a child was a privilege and a joy. Luke 2:52 says in talking about Jesus.,. "and he grew in stature, and in wisdom and in favor with God and man." That is the motto that Lloyd Beasley tired to instill in every child he had the opportunity to influence.
Survivors include two sons Louis D. Beasley and Sam D Beasley; two daughters, Edie Hendrickson and Dottie Vinzant; brother Sam Don Beasley; two sisters Thelma Powell and Linda Speights; eight grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. He was also survived by a host of other family & friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Lela Norris and his parents Sam D. Beasley & Helen Beasley Ferguson.
Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Jasper.
