Mildred Emilie Augusta Hackbarth, beloved wife and companion, precious mom, grandma and great grandma, died Thursday, April 11, 2013 at Aspirus Hospice House, Wausau, WI, with her family by her side.

She was born on February 15, 1921 to Edward and Amanda Storm, Township of Berlin, Marathon County, WI. She was baptized on March 13, 1921 and confirmed April 14, 1935. She attended Iwen and Jackson Elementary Schools, and could still name all 22 of her schoolmates from a 1931-32 picture. She graduated from Merrill High School in 1939, having played the saxophone in the high school band.

She met her future husband at family and neighborhood birthday and social gatherings, and after dating three years was married on November 9, 1941. Their marriage was blessed with two children Karlos "Karl" and Julia "Julie". They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary and 90th birthday parties in July, 2011 with their families.

In their early married life they moved to Merrill and were members of St. John's Lutheran Church, Mildred belonging to the choir, ladies aid, and altar guild. They were able to travel to both east and west coasts when Karl was in the military and to Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and Italy when their son-in-law was stationed in Germany. Mildred and Kurt also enjoyed playing cards, especially sheephead, with family and friends.

In earlier years she also enjoyed embroidery, collecting cookbooks, and tending her many houseplants. Mildred was truly a loving and successful wife, mother, and homemaker for over 71 years. She loved her husband, and children and nurtured them in a loving Christian home.

In 1999 they moved to Weston to be closer to their children and joined Redeemer Lutheran Church. In her later homebound years, Mildred enjoyed visits and phone chats from friends and family, taking a special interest in her grand and great grandchildren's lives. A special blessing in their move to Weston was the kindling of new friendships with neighbors Mary Alexejun and Michelle Lentz.

Survivors include her husband Kurt, Weston, WI; son, Karlos "Karl" (Shirley) Hackbarth, Rothschild, WI; daughter Julia (Robert)Seim, Rothschild, WI; grandchildren, Kendall (Michael) Misoni, Stettin, WI; Kris (Rev. Ray) Bell, Cadott, WI; Steven (Julie) Seim, Beaver Dam, WI and Scott Seim, Minneapolis, MN. Great Grandchildren, Michaela Misoni, Duluth, MN; Matthew Misoni, Stettin, WI; Philip and Grace Seim, Beaver Dam, WI; Kylie and Luke Bell, Cadott; sister-in-law Valerian Storm of Wausau.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Elmer Storm and infant grandson, John Paul Seim.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 6404 Old Costa Lane, Schofield. The Rev. Robert Jordan will officiate. Entombment will take place at Restlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will take place from 9:30 am until the time of the service at the church on Tuesday.

The family would like to thank Pastor Robert Jordan for his support and comfort given to Mom in her final days and the staffs at St. Clare's Hospital and Aspirus Hospice House for their kind care.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Northland Lutheran High School 2107 Tower Road, Mosinee.

I know that my Redeemer lives, and that in the end He will stand upon the earth. And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God; I myself will see Him with my own eyes-I, and not another. How my heart yearns within me! Job 19:25-27.
