Dorothy “Dot” Louise Montgomery, age 89, Russellville, passed away on Wednesday, December 06, 2017 at Helen Keller Hospital surrounded by her family.
This beautiful, kind, funny, upbeat, spunky, hard working woman has gone to her forever home with the good Lord after a long fight. Dot was the youngest of eleven children and she was the true definition of a sweet little Christian Southern belle. She was always there for anyone who needed her, always saw the good in people, and her motto was “if it wasn’t the truth, I wouldn’t say it”. She was very appreciative of any gesture of kindness, even up until her last few moments on earth, saying thank you to the nurses. She leaves quite a legacy of family and friends and a loving example to live by.
The visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Saturday, December 09, 2017 at Spry Memorial Chapel. The funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 10, 2017 at Spry Memorial Chapel with Bro. Stanley Hargett officiating. Burial will be at Knights of Pythias Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.L. “Red” Montgomery; daughter, Lona Ann Vandiver; great-granddaughter, Emily Rose Jackson; parents, Oce Lee & Annie Hargett; and all of her brothers and sisters.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Don Montgomery (wife, Rita), Gary Montgomery, Steve Montgomery (wife, Pam), Robin Montgomery Jackson (husband, John); grandchildren, Jeff Vandiver, Laurie Scott, Mindy Hutton, Adam Montgomery, Holly Polasky (Alex), Noah Montgomery, Johnna Jackson; great-grandchildren, Shawn Vandiver, Brittany Parrish (Alex), Heather Gongaware, Dax Hutton, Mia Hutton; great-great-grandchildren, Jace Gongaware, Jaxon Parrish, Memoree Parrish; and a host of nieces & nephews.
The pallbearers will be Adam Montgomery, Noah Montgomery, Shawn Vandiver, Dale Pounders, Dwight Jackson, and Alex Parrish.
