He died from injuries sustained from a railroad accident at the age of 18.

Cemetery History:
Second Presbyterian Church was formed after the Civil War to serve the African-American Presbyterians in Mocksville. Their ancestors were buried at Joppa Church Cemetery (predecessor of 1st Presbyterian) as well, but in unmarked graves.
