He was born April 13, 1934, in Richhill Township, Enon, Greene County, a son of the late George Wesley "Pete" and Wilma Jessie Toland Amos. He had resided in Richhill Township area most of his life.
Mr. Amos attended the former Richhill Township High School in Wind Ridge.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, where he served as a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps and had earned the Good Conduct and National Defense Service medals. He was a member of American Legion Post 330 in Waynesburg.
Mr. Amos was the operator of the former Cliff's Delaware Inn in Amity. He was an employee of the former Galion Iron Works in Galion, Ohio, a butcher for the former State Food Store and a bartender at the former Van's Hotel and Restaurant both in Cameron, W.Va., and for more than 45 years was a self-employed independent truck driver, prior to his last employment with Burns Drilling, retiring in 2010.
On June 26, 1959 he married Betty Jo "Jodi" McCardle of Waynesburg, who survives.
Also surviving are children Eric, husband of Lorri Amos of Wind Ridge, and Sharon and Leigh Ann Amos and Laura Grim, all of Waynesburg, Regina Amos of Wind Ridge and Ryerson Station and Alexander Amos of Carmichaels; special friend Lucretia Ealy, mother of Alexander, of Carmichaels; four grandchildren, Gina McDiffitt, TravisMcFadden, Clinton Amos and Andrew Grim; two great-grandchildren, Destiny and Haven Statler; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are three brothers, Glenn, Wesley Jr. and Carl Amos.
Friends will be received from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday in Rush Funeral Home Inc., Rogersville, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 13, with Pastor Phillip Campbell Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling, W.Va. Graveside military rites will be accorded by representatives of the U.S. Marine Corps and American Legion Post 330, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4793 and Disabled American Veterans Post 123, all of Waynesburg.
