CHARLES WILLIAM McDANIEL "Charlie" and "Mr. McD" Age 69, of Lake Clarke Shores, FL, who was a resident of Palm Beach County since 1966, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 15, 2010. Known and loved in the horticulture industry, he educated many local gardeners. He was a founding member of both The Mounts Botanical Garden and The Palm Beach County Fern Society. He also served on the board of The Unbelievable Acres Botanic Gardens and was a member of The Aroid Society. For the last 18 years, he has worked in the Palm Beach County School District. He was a science teacher, role model, confidant, friend, and much needed shoulder to his many students. If a man's wealth is measured by the number of lives he touched, he died a millionaire! He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Nancy Smith McDaniel; his two sons, Shane McDaniel (Carollee) and Craig McDaniel (Donna); his grandchildren, Maggie Frison (McDaniel), Chelsea McDaniel, Kristin Fitzpatrick, Nicholas Fitzpatrick, Austin Hillsgrove, and Braden Hillsgrove. Also surviving is his brother, C.A. McDaniel (Charleen), and his sisters, Helen M. Davis and Ruth M. Hughes, all of Tuscaloosa, AL. He was preceded in death by his parents, William A. and Tommie McDaniel. Friends may visit with the family between the hours of 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at QUATTLEBAUM FUNERAL HOME, 1201 South Olive Avenue, West Palm Beach. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, December 19, 2010 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park, West Palm Beach.
