Funeral services for Barbara Jean Babcock will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 2, 2011 at Brown-Holley Funeral Chapel in Oak Grove with the Rev. Leonard Garlington and the Rev. Homer Bryan will officiating. Interment will follow in Campbell Cemetery in Pioneer under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home of Oak Grove.

Mrs. Babcock was born on November 29, 1929 in Batesville, Ark. and passed away on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 in Bastrop.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas A. and Hazel Edith Gill; two brothers, Dean Gill and Dale Gill; and two sisters, Ina McCartney and Mary Rose Smith.

Survivors include her husband, Charles "Shorty" Babcock of Pioneer; son Danny Babcock and wife Gail of Eros; son Tim Babcock and wife Peggy of Baton Rouge; daughter, Cathy Bryan and good friend Roy Sanches of Pioneer; daughter Beth Copes and husband Pete of Pioneer; sister Louisa Key of Camden, Ark.; brother, Tommy Gill of San Antonio, Texas; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Osbon, Charles Matheny, Larry Bryan, Greg Roberts, Roy Sanches, and Edgar McGee.

Memorials may be made to Clear Lake Missionary Baptist Church Missions Fund.
