Carl passed away on his 92nd birthday. He was born to Carl Ellis and Margaret Ann (Saul) Rose. He worked as a stone mason prior to joining the U.S. Army in 1939, serving in Panama, New Guinea, and the Phillipines during World War II. He retired as a full Colonel in 1981. Carl attended Bluefield College, LSU, and the University of Miami, earning degrees in Accounting and Law. He was a member of the Florida and Washington, D.C. Bar Associations. He settled in Miami, where he served as a Vice President, Comptroller and Legal Counsel for Southeast Bank. He retired in 1984 and moved to Sun City Center in 1985, spending summers in Wolf Laurel, North Carolina. Carl was preceded in death by two wives, Lillian (Morrissette) Rose and Marie (Borroughs) Rose; and brother, Colin Rose. He is survived by his companion and long time friend, Jean Turner of Plant City; son, Carl William Rose, Jr. (Kathy) of North Fort Myers; daughter, Terry Ann Bannan, New Smyrna Beach; grandson, Norbert Hamilton Bannan, III, (Genia), Loose Creek, Missouri; great grandson, Norbert Hamilton Bannan, IV. He was a member of the Sun City Center United Methodist Church. He enjoyed traveling to Europe, Alaska and The Holy Land and other destinations throughout his lifetime.
