He grew up in Abilene, Texas and graduated from Wylie igh School. While serving his country in the United States Army in Vietnam, Carroll received the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.
Carroll and Alice Bailey were united in marriage on June 22, 1986. Carroll was a grocery store manager for most of his life and was also a drug and alcohol counselor. He was a man who enjoyed to fish and camp, watch Nascar and most of all loved his grandbabies.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Carroll is survived by: his wife of 18 years, Alice; daughters, Shelley Rene Balderas and husband Robert of Abilene, TX and Amanda Hope Quinton and Randy Pennington of Hulbert, OK, Brandi Daily and husband Scott of Ark City, KS and Misty Burchett of Tahlequah; sons, Shawn Ray Cheairs and wife, Melissa of Ft. Worth, TX, Tony Ray Quinton and Mynde Waddle of Tahlequah, OK and Granvel Wilson Burchett of Tahlequah, OK; grandchildren, Tray Balderas, Matthew Cheairs, Daniel Balderas, Chandler Elizabeth Cheairs, Timothy Balderas, Kristopher Wingo and Nathaniel Cheairs, Taylor Memphis Wingo and Lakota Sue Daily; brother, Dale Cheairs and wife, Lucy of Dallas, TX; sister, Linda Pickens of Abilene, TX; adopted fami- lies, Woody Burchett and wife, Bonnie; and Donna Wharton and husband, Nelson; and a host of family and friends.
