Extracts from obit published October 27, 2010, in The Candor Statement:

On September 24th, 2010, the family of Henry Hollenbeck lost someone very dear and near to them, when Henry C. Hollenbeck of Wauchula, Fl, formerly of Candor, NY, suddenly passed away at his home of a heart attack at the age of 90.

He was loved, honored and respected by his first wife Rachel and his second wife Madeline, his children Robert and Catherine, his grandchildren Rob, Wendy, Chris and Eric as well as his four great grand-children, his in-laws, many nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors and co-workers.

Henry was born March 8, 1920, in Monroeton, Bradford County, Pa, to Charles and Katie (Bailey) Hollenbeck who predeceased him. For many years he celebrated his birthday as March 14th, but then one year, he was given as a gift from his first wife Rachel, his very own birth certificate with the original birth date of March 8th and the correct spelling of his last name which was Hollenback and not Hollenbeck. Boy was Henry surprised.

As a child Henry was placed in foster care and lived in Apalachin for a period of time. When he was older he found work in Candor with Roy and Georgia Coursen and lived with them until he finished high school and went into military service.

On Feb 7th, 1942 Henry married his first wife Rachel Meddaugh of Candor, NY, who passed away in June of 2001. She bore him two children Robert and Catherine (known to her immediate family as Susan) who predeceased her father in January 2009. In 2004 Henry married Madeline Collins who now survives him.
......
Henry is survived by his second wife Madeline of Wauchula, Fl., his son Robert and wife Patricia Hollenbeck of NJ and their two boys Eric and Chris. Henry is also survived by his two grown children Rob and his wife Monica and their two children, and Wendy and Al Mollo and their two children, former sister-in-law Catherine Meddaugh Deming, and a whole slew of nieces and nephews, cousins, and a host of friends who loved him dearly.
.......
Florida funeral services were held Oct.5th at Robarts Garden Chapel with Rev. Vincent Clemente officiating. Candor services will be held at a later date next year at the convenience of the family at Maple Grove Cemetery where he will be buried next to his first wife Rachel and their beloved daughter Catherine (Susan) Comeau.
