No body was recovered after his Sherman Tank was destroyed. His name is on a memorial wall with many others who were not recovered. He was the son of Roy Washington Byrn and Adelia May Binkley. He was married to Pauline Cortheye Woolery in Frederick OK 30 April 1933. He had two sons, Frederick Melvin Byrn 1936-1994 and another son still living.
