John Carter, age 86, pioneer resident of the Hastings district, died Monday at the home of a son, Emanuel Carter, following an extended illness.

Mr. Carter had been a resident of St. Johns county for over eighty years and for the past half century had been a farmer. He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. F. M. Corbett, Mrs. H. H. Bailey and Mrs. W. R. Byrd of Hastings, and Mrs. E. J. Langford of Charleston, S.C., and one son, Emanuel Carter, of Hastings.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the home of Emanuel Carter, with Rev. C. F. Tolle and Rev. C. M. White, of Hastings, officiating. Interment was made in the family section in Pellicer Creek Cemetery. (Palatka Times-Herald Obituary dtd Friday, 17 Nov 1933.)
