Steve Richard was born in a logging camp at the mouth of a small creek in Potter County, Pennsylvania. The actual location was the mouth of Indian Run (N41d 41.790m W77d 44.975m) (near Lyman Run, named after A. G. Lyman) south of the New York State border about 6.5 miles west of Galeton, PA. He visited the place when he was 14 years old (1918), the camp was still there, he remembers all kinds of berries - brush 6' to 8' tall.
