Minerva Jane, daughter of John Milton & Sarah Ann Jolly, was born July 20, 1853 near Evansville, Indiana & died at Melbourne, Missouri March 13, 1944 at the age of 90yrs 7 months and 22 days.
She was united in marriage to John A. Nicholson Feb. 8, 1887.
To this union were born four children. They with her companion have preceded her in death.
She leaves two grandchildren, John Dowell of Sheridan, Oregon & Mrs. George Payne of Gilman City. Also nine great grandchildren & two great great grandchildren. One brother S. R. Jolly, of Gilman City; two half sisters Mary Shirley of Gilman City & Ella McLey of Trenton. Many nephews & nicees, also cousin of Melbourne who cared for her so tenderly during her illness.
She professed her faith in Christ at an early age & was a member of the Christian Union Church at Mitchell.
She was great soul with a kind heart full of good wishes for loved ones, friends & neighbors, and a deep appreciation for every kind act shown her during her long life.
During her declining years she spoke about worshiping the God she trusted & the Christ who saved her. She often spoke her desires that all should call upon His matchless name be saved. Look unto me, & be ye saved, all the ends of the earth. Isiah 45-22.
Funeral service was conducted Wednesday at 2:30 by Rev. Pollock at Melbourne Baptist Church. Interment was in the Mitchell cemetery.
Pall bearers were Sherman Payne, Hermal Payne, Harl Payne, John Hughes, Tom Meek & Clint Shirley.
