Robert V. Middleton, 70 of Ludowici, Ga. died Tuesday, April 9, 2013 in Memorial Medical Center after a fall at his residence. The Long County, Ga. native attended Church of God and served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force as a staff sergeant and received the "Medal of Valor" for special services rendered to fellow servicemen. He was a life member of the retired enlisted association. Prior to his military career, he worked as a grocery store manager for several food chains. Robert enjoyed many things in life such as instructing flight students, hunting and fishing. He was predeceased by his parents, Claude and Ida Middleton; brothers, James, Charles and Alvin Middleton; a sister, Sweet Middleton.
Survivors are his wife of 48 years, Judy H. Middleton of Ludowici, Ga.; a son, Shane Middleton, also of Ludowici, Ga.; a granddaughter, Alissa Brook Middleton of Ludowici, Ga.; a sister, Faye Middleton Harrison of Kingsland, Ga.; a brother, Gene Middleton of Ludowici, Ga.; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11 A.M. Friday, April 12, 2013 at New Beginning Church on Highway 57 in Ludowici, Ga. with Rev. Jay Middleton and Rev. Tom Gardner officiating, along with the American Legion Post 311's presentation of the U.S. Flag. Interment will be in the Middleton Memorial Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Dale Rozier, Stephen Middleton, Rev. Jay Middleton, Kevin Herrin, Dennis Edenfield and Mike Davis.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M Thursday, April 11, 2013 at the funeral home.
