(1852-1937) ~ Julia O. Fewell Derrough was born May 19, 1852, to Richard Robert Fewell and Mary Buchanan Adeneal, both of Rockingham, North Carolina. On February 16, 1876, Julia married John Harvey Derrough in Navarro County, Texas. John was a Confederate Veteran who served with the Texas Conscripts. He served in the armory of the 7th Texas Cavalry. He never went to the field for he worked as a gunsmith for Messr. Whitescarver, Campbell & Co. in Cherokee County, Rusk, Texas. He enlisted in 1862, and served until the close of the war. When John died on January 15, 1913, Julia moved to Tarrant County, Ft. Worth, Texas where she applied for and recieved a Confederate Pension. It is not known if Julia stayed in Ft. Worth or moved in with a sibling up until her admittance to the Confederate Women‘s Home on November 14, 1936. Julia lived at the home in Travis County, Austin, Texas until her death on August 16, 1937.
