Benjamin Aaron Wooddell was the son of Joseph H. and Delilah Arbogast Wooddell.
Benjamin was a twin. His brother died in infancy.
Benjamin Aaron married Cynthia Jane Sheets September 5, 1854 in Pocahontas County, WV.
Benjamin was a house joiner and a farmer. An 1860 census shows Benjamin and Cynthia living on their South fork of Deer Creek property.
Benjamin Enlisted in Company G, Virginia 31st Infantry Regiment on 17 Mar 1862 at age 24. Mustered out on 24 May 1862. (Civil War Soldiers Records and Profiles-The Virginia Regimental Histories Series)
In March of 1862, while encamped with his unit on top of Allegheny Mountain at Ft. Dinwiddie (Battle of Allegheny Mountain which took place on December 13, 1861) Benjamin became ill with a fever.
He died from his illness on May 24, 1862 in Staunton, VA.
He is buried at Thornrose Cemetery in Staunton.
