"Philip Daywood was born in Austin in 1932 and passed away on April 5th, 2013. He was the son of Lebanese parents, George and Tamine Daywood, and spent much of his childhood around their grocery store on 6th street. He was a graduate of Austin High School and served in the US Navy as a minesweeper from 1954-1956. After the Navy, he worked as a delivery driver for Butter Krust Bakery and a route salesman for Alert Vending. He met Sharon Wortham in 1960 and the two were married the following year. Philip was an avid sports fan, never missing an opportunity to cheer on the Texas Longhorns or the Dallas Cowboys. He loved to barbecue for his family - turkey at Christmas and Thanksgiving; brisket in the summer. Philip was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Lebanon Association. Mr. Daywood was preceded in death by his parents, George and Tamine Daywood; his brothers, William and David Daywood; and his sister, Louise Daywood Kyle."
